Openai

FullTime

Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure

ABOUT THE TEAM Cloud Infrastructure builds the shared platforms behind ChatGPT and the OpenAI API. We work across engineering and product teams to make infrastructure reliable, secure and easier to use as OpenAI grows. Cloud Infrastructure at OpenAI builds and operates the multi-cloud compute platform that other teams build on. Our work spans cluster creation and lifecycle management, upgrades, patching, compliance and the tools engineers use to provision and run infrastructure. The platform supports a broad range of customers, including API and chat products, data systems, observability and online serving. Our focus is the shared CPU compute foundation and its platform capabilities, rather than specialized GPU optimization. We build across OCI, AWS and Azure, solving the practical problems of making a common platform useful across different cloud environments. OpenAI develops and deploys AI with the goal of benefiting humanity. Responsible deployment and safety are central to that work. ABOUT THE ROLE You will build infrastructure abstractions that help teams ship and scale products. This is a software engineering role with end-to-end production ownership: designing capabilities, writing the implementation, rolling it out and improving how it operates. We are looking for engineers who have built shared infrastructure, not only deployed applications on an existing platform. You should be comfortable understanding users’ needs, identifying missing capabilities and turning an ambiguous problem into a working system. Experience at OpenAI’s scale is not a prerequisite; sound engineering judgment and the ability to adapt familiar solutions to a much larger environment matter. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Build and improve the systems that create, configure and manage Kubernetes clusters throughout their lifecycle, including safe upgrades and ongoing maintenance. Develop reusable platform tooling and infrastructure automation so internal teams can provision and use compute without repeatedly solving the same underlying problems. Improve capacity management, autoscaling and resource allocation, including namespace management and quotas, with attention to efficient use of compute. Help make workloads and platform capabilities easier to manage across clusters and cloud environments, including the foundations for multi-cluster mobility. Make security, patching and compliance part of the platform’s day-to-day operation, rather than separate manual processes. Work with teams using the platform to understand friction, prioritize improvements and build components that serve multiple use cases rather than one application alone. Own the reliability of what you build, including incident response through an on-call rotation, and turn operational lessons into lasting improvements. Take ownership of a defined area, make progress independently and seek the context or help needed to unblock work. Adapt when operational needs or company priorities change. YOU MIGHT THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU: Have at least five years of experience building core infrastructure and can explain the systems you personally designed, implemented and operated. Bring strong software engineering skills and experience building shared cloud or cluster platforms. Kubernetes experience is especially relevant; strong adjacent platform-building experience can also be valuable. Have worked on problems such as cluster lifecycle, infrastructure automation, capacity, autoscaling, tenancy or safe production changes, with a clear understanding of the tradeoffs involved. Can move between architecture and implementation, and are comfortable owning a system after it reaches production. Build tools with their users in mind, balancing useful abstractions with the ability to diagnose and operate the underlying system. Work effectively with ambiguity, changing priorities and incomplete information. You make progress, communicate tradeoffs and know when to ask for help. Value a collaborative, inclusive environment where people can challenge ideas directly and respectfully. Experience that would be especially useful Infrastructure as code and repeatable cluster provisioning, including Terraform or comparable tooling. Production Kubernetes operations, cluster and node upgrades, resource isolation, quotas or autoscaling policy design. Shared platforms spanning multiple clusters or cloud providers. Building platform APIs, controllers or operational automation that reduce manual work. Deep upstream Kubernetes specialization is not a universal prerequisite. About OpenAI OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. We push the boundaries of the capabilities of AI systems and seek to safely deploy them to the world through our products. AI is an extremely powerful tool that must be created with safety and human needs at its core, and to achieve our mission, we must encompass and value the many different perspectives, voices, and experiences that form the full spectrum of humanity. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or other applicable legally protected characteristic. For additional information, please see OpenAI’s Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement https://cdn.openai.com/policies/eeo-policy-statement.pdf. Background checks for applicants will be administered in accordance with applicable law, and qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment consistent with those laws, including the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, and the California Fair Chance Act, for US-based candidates. For unincorporated Los Angeles County workers: we reasonably believe that criminal history may have a direct, adverse and negative relationship with the following job duties, potentially resulting in the withdrawal of a conditional offer of employment: protect computer hardware entrusted to you from theft, loss or damage; return all computer hardware in your possession (including the data contained therein) upon termination of employment or end of assignment; and maintain the confidentiality of proprietary, confidential, and non-public information. Full Stack Software Engineer - Application Development

A World-Changing Company Palantir builds the world’s leading software for data-driven decisions and operations. By bringing the right data to the people who need it, our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more. The Role Palantir Foundry is an end-to-end platform for data-driven decision-making. We're transforming the way organisations securely integrate their data, so they can then build reliable, critical applications atop that unified foundation. Our customers use Foundry to perform rich analyses that drive core operations within their organisations. They can also build sophisticated, full-fledged programs, such as common operating pictures, alert-triaging inboxes, and resource allocation planning tools driven by rich-ML models. As a Full Stack Engineer focused on application development in Foundry, you will be responsible for crafting the tools used by thousands of users to build the sophisticated applications that power their businesses. You will be architecting and developing interfaces, state management and access patterns to support data-intensive workflows that are both powerful and approachable. You may spend one day interviewing users to better understand their needs and identifying product gaps to improve. The next day, you might find yourself considering that customer context along with signal gathered from other customers in different industries, brainstorming approaches to handling intricate UX needs with your teammates. You’ll regularly be faced with sophisticated technical problems, requiring you to scope out the solution design and finding an incremental path to shipping the new features. As part of this, you will own APIs and schemas that power your frontend code, or work with other backend engineers in developing them together. We're hiring engineers who are passionate about solving real-world problems and empowering both customer app builders and end-users to do their work optimally. Below are some examples of the types of product work you’d get to do in this role: Frontline Foundry Software Engineers may be offered the opportunity to Frontline, an exclusive program unlike any other. This unique, short-term assignment involves being embedded with customers, allowing you to work directly with users and gain firsthand insight into how our products are used and the challenges our customers face. Unlike traditional engineering roles, Frontline immerses you in complex, ambiguous problems, empowering you to deliver impactful solutions across some of the world’s most important industries and institutions. Some of our most successful products were built on the factory floor, addressing real-world problems for the world's most important institutions. These products were developed by some of our most successful product engineers, who began their careers in roles aligned with Frontline responsibilities, gaining a deep understanding of both our technology and our customers. Frontliners operate across a broad spectrum of responsibilities, much like a startup CTO. They work in small teams to own the end-to-end execution of high-stakes projects. This spectrum ranges from discussing architecture and building custom web apps to conducting workshops with users and strategizing with customer executives. No two days are alike, as each day is diverse and impactful. By witnessing how customers engage with Foundry and experiencing these pain points firsthand, you’ll gain unique insights that feed directly back into our development process, helping to refine and enhance our products. Palantir

Full-timeHybrid

Forward Deployed Software Engineer, New Grad - UK Government

A World-Changing Company Palantir builds the world’s leading software for data-driven decisions and operations. By bringing the right data to the people who need it, our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more. The Role Forward Deployed Engineering is a radical commitment to the outcome. This is Palantir’s operating ethos. We pioneered this unique position, embedding engineers directly with our customers to tackle their most pressing challenges head-on. As an FDE, you’ll be at the intersection of world-changing problems and impactful technology, shaping solutions where they matter most. From hospital beds to factory floors, Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) embed themselves in the customer’s reality until the problem is theirs. This requires walking many miles in a customer’s shoes, building past the perimeter of what the product currently offers, and deviating from every pre-existing formula to solve the problem. Whether that problem is “How do we predict and mitigate wildfire risks across a power grid?” or “How can we analyze and adapt a global supply chain to deliver critical parts on time?” You’ll use your technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills to drive real-world impact. Core Responsibilities To solve mission-critical problems by deploying software and AI into the high stakes operations of the world’s leading institutions. This requires a ruthless commitment to truth-seeking and prioritizing real outcomes. The work is difficult. The stakes are real. You will work in small, high-trust teams and own projects end-to-end, from the first conversation with a customer, to shipping the product that changes how they operate. You will embed with the customer, the chaos, and the consequences, and will be entrusted with real ownership to: Collaborate with engineers to make architecture and design decisions Wrestle with data at a scale that breaks assumptions and demands invention Build custom applications, LLM workflows, and production solutions engineered for a specific customer's reality Own relationships with stakeholders from the users in the weeds to the executives making the calls As a New Grad, you will be entrusted with responsibility on day 1. You will not be handed a ticket queue. You will not be shielded from the customer, the chaos, or the consequences. FDEs are entrusted with real ownership, operating with real autonomy, and held to a real standard, no matter their tenure. What We Value The drive to solve your customer’s problem. This can translate to: Going where you’re needed most — Embed where and when it matters. Expect 25–50% travel, depending on team and location. Agency — You learn continuously, make decisions with incomplete information, and don't wait to be told what to do next. Embracing the ambiguity — You operate effectively in teams that mix technical and non-technical people, in environments where the objectives shift, the users push back, and the solution demands iteration. Intrinsic motivations — You solve hard technical problems (data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks) not because you were assigned to, but because that's what it takes to achieve your outcomes. Ruthless goal orientation — You do not operate within a product’s existing boundaries and limitations. You push past them, rewrite them, or discard them entirely. What We Require Engineering degree, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science. Proficiency with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar. Security clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance. Must be graduating in 2027 or before. To apply, please include the following: An updated resume / CV - please do so in PDF format. Thoughtful responses to our application questions. Offer Deadline In an effort to build more insight into our recruitment process, we’d like to share our offer deadline expectations. By applying to this position, you commit to confirming your decision within two weeks of receiving your written offer.
