Join our Team at the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Monterey, CA as a Staff Physician General Internal Medicine (Primary Care)!

The incumbent will be responsible for assessment and care of new and returning patients with any number of medical problems (e.g. hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, COPD, depression, chronic pain). The care may be delivered via face-to-face, telehealth or video visits though this position may require occasional travel to VISN medical centers or Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOC. He/she is responsible for ordering diagnostics, consultations, medications and other therapies as medically indicated, meeting preventative health maintenance needs, completing all required VA computer documentation including clinical reminders and screenings in a timely manner. The incumbent's assigned duty station will be one of the sites of care within VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Telehealth and/or video visits may only be conducted from sites of care within the VA Palo Alto Health Care System or VA approved alternate work sites. He/she may also support the Call Center as well.

Evaluation, including performance of H&P (history and physical); diagnosis; consultation; and treatment of adult patients with medical illnesses performed in the clinic environment, via telehealth or via VA approved video modalities with appropriate support and monitoring. In addition, provider may perform diagnostic or therapeutic joint aspiration/ injection, soft tissue injection, routine women's health (pelvic exam, breast exam, cytologic pap smear testing, cervical HPV testing), laceration repair, foreign body removal, abscess incision and drainage, diagnostic paracentesis, and wound debridement. He/she may care for patients via face-to face, telemedicine or VA approved video modalities, perform preliminary interpretation of ECG and radiographic studies, and supervise residents, fellows, and others in training.
