Oncology NP/PA The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides high-level patient care as a part of the clinical team. Under a licensed physician's direction, an Advanced Practice Provider provides direct patient care, including evaluating and examining new patients, managing patients undergoing treatment, and monitoring patients after treatment is complete. Position Highlights: Join an established team of 18 APPs and 12 Physicians Practice recognizes the value of work/life balance Current APPs work 4 days per week by preference Work involves inpatient and outpatient services Full licensed medical team and support staff See about 12-15 patients per day Comfortable doing/learning chemotherapy education/consent visits, survivorship visits, treatment toxicity checks, lab reviews, support triage with urgent patient management issues, and understand practice in a COLLABORATIVE state (versus supervisory) Could learn/do bone marrow biopsies after competency confirmed (additional compensation). Essential Job Functions Contributes to physicians effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues. Provides information and commentary to the care team that is pertinent to clinical deliberations. Recommends options and courses of action. Implements physician directives. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Instructs and counsels patients by describing treatment regimens. Orders diagnostic tests, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results. Prescribes and refills medications and oncology treatments. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Rounds on patients in the hospital. Performs bone marrow biopsies as trained and declared competent. Manages chemotherapy and immune therapy toxicities. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Participates in advanced care planning. General management of primary care issues related to hematology/oncology.
