Perplexity

FullTime

Senior Cinematographer, Brand Studio

We’re looking for a Senior Cinematographer to define how Perplexity looks on film. Working with the Creative Director and Video Lead, you’ll translate our visual identity into a practical cinematographic language, then bring it to life across the team’s day-to-day output. This is a hands-on role. One day you’re shooting a candid office moment or executive interview with a small kit; the next, you’re leading a full camera and lighting crew on a brand film. Most of your time goes to prepping, testing, lighting, and shooting. You’ll also help build and run our in-house studio, from selecting gear and designing flexible lighting setups to keeping the space production-ready. When turnaround is tight, you’ll support media management and light editing. You’ll report to the Video Lead and work closely with the Video Producer, Brand Lead, designers, motion designers, Growth, Comms, Product Marketing, and external production partners. The Producer and Video Lead handle crewing, budgets, schedules, and logistics so you can stay focused on production and craft. However, you should think like a storyteller, not just a technician, bringing your own ideas for how to show our product and people more vividly through moodboards, shot lists, storyboards, and a willingness to experiment. WHAT YOU'LL DO Partner with the Creative Director and Video Lead to define and evolve Perplexity’s cinematographic language, and turn it into repeatable approaches for lighting, lensing, composition, movement, and color. Shoot and light a steady mix of day-to-day content: candid office moments, executive interviews, product demos, social, events, and documentary stories. Lead cinematography on brand films, campaigns, partnerships, and launches. Scale to the work: operate solo with a minimal kit, lead a small crew, or help build a full camera, lighting, grip, team (with help from producers). Bring storytelling ideas to the table through moodboards, shot lists, storyboards, and experimentation. Own camera, lighting, and movement decisions from creative development through capture: build packages, run tests and tech scouts, and solve constraints before the shoot. Recommend crew and equipment for each production and lead the camera and lighting departments on set. Producers handle budgets, schedules, contracts, and logistics. Help design, build, and run the in-house studio, including lighting, audio, grip, and monitoring. Own the team’s gear: recommend, purchase, organize, and maintain it, with ready-to-shoot packages so no setup gets rebuilt from scratch. Handle color grading in DaVinci Resolve, and support selects, stringouts, and light edits when turnaround is tight. Keep the visual standard high across formats and crew sizes without overbuilding. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 6+ years as a cinematographer or DP across branded, commercial, documentary, and interview work. A standout reel showing visual authorship, lighting craft, camera movement, and an eye for honest, unscripted moments. A strong point of view, paired with the sensitivity to work within and strengthen an existing brand. Deep command of camera systems, lenses, exposure, color pipelines, lighting, grip, and on-set monitoring. Genuinely hands-on: equally comfortable building a camera, shaping light, operating, troubleshooting, and leading a crew. The judgment to make premium images under real constraints, solo with a small kit or leading a full production. Strong pre-production instincts: turning a creative idea into a technically sound, right-sized plan. Experience briefing and leading freelance crews and vendors on set, and managing professional production equipment. Working proficiency in DaVinci Resolve for color grading, selects, and light edits. Collaborative and low-ego. You bring a strong opinion, take direction, and solve problems with partners. Comfortable moving fast in an ambiguous, high-output environment without compromising craft, safety, or footage. Based in or able to work on-site in San Francisco, with flexibility for travel and long shoot days. NICE TO HAVE A strong Bay Area and Los Angeles network of camera, lighting, grip, sound, production, and rental partners. Experience within an in-house brand studio at a technology or consumer company. Strong documentary instincts and experience working with founders, executives, talent, or people who are not professional performers. Experience with multi-camera interviews, live events, tabletop or product cinematography, motion-control systems, or virtual production. Color-grading experience and a strong understanding of how capture decisions carry through finishing and delivery.

Brand Designer, Growth

We're looking for a Growth Brand Designer to sit at the intersection of brand craft and growth performance. You'll be the designer who makes Perplexity's highest-volume, highest-leverage marketing surfaces — paid ads, social, lifecycle email, and campaign assets — look unmistakably Perplexity while actually moving the numbers. This is a shipping role, but it's equally a thinking role. Strategic concepting is a big part of the job: you'll sit with the Growth team as an ideator — generating campaign concepts, testing hypotheses, and shaping the creative strategy behind the work — not just executing briefs handed to you. The ideas you bring to the table matter as much as the assets you ship. You'll produce a steady stream of ad and campaign creative across formats and channels, then work with Growth to read the results and iterate. You care about conversion and craft in equal measure: you'd never ship an off-brand asset to win a test, and you'd never hide behind polish when the data says a concept isn't working. You'll report into the Brand/Creative Studio team and work closely with Growth, Product Marketing, Brand, and our motion and web designers. WHAT YOU'LL DO Drive strategic concepting for growth campaigns — bring original ideas, angles, and creative territories to the table, and shape the brief rather than just receiving it Operate as a true ideation partner to the Growth team: co-develop campaign strategy, propose test hypotheses, and pitch concepts that open up new creative directions Own the design of growth creative end-to-end — paid social and display ads, campaign assets, and lifecycle email — from concept to shipped asset Design for volume and velocity: build variant sets, test hypotheses, and iterate on winners with the Growth team using real performance data Turn product launches and GTM campaigns into ad creative that lands on every channel it runs — static, animated, and everything in between Build and maintain scalable ad and email templates so high-frequency asset production stays fast and on-brand Partner with Brand to keep visual consistency across every growth touchpoint as our brand system evolves Collaborate with our motion designer and web designer so campaigns feel cohesive from the first ad impression to the landing page Bring a strong point of view on what makes performance creative great — and push back when a "best practice" would cheapen the brand WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR A strong portfolio of growth and brand design work — paid ads, social campaigns, lifecycle email, campaign systems — that shows both craft and results Proven strategic concepting ability: you can show campaigns where the idea was yours, not just the execution, and articulate the thinking behind them Excellent visual design skills with a clear sense of brand, typography, layout, and composition Hands-on experience designing performance creative at a consumer or prosumer tech company, including working directly with growth or performance marketing teams Fluency reading creative performance data (CTR, conversion, hook rates) and translating it into design decisions Ability to work fast, manage a high volume of deliverables across channels, and iterate quickly without dropping the quality bar Fluency in Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite An instinct for building repeatable systems — templates, variant frameworks, asset kits — rather than one-off files 5+ years of industry experience NICE TO HAVE Motion design skills — animated ads, short-form video for social, or After Effects fluency Familiarity with ad platform specs and constraints (Meta, Google, TikTok, X, YouTube) and how they shape creative decisions Experience using AI-assisted design and image-generation workflows to scale creative output Copywriting instincts — you can tighten a headline when there's no writer in the room

Lead Product Designer, Enterprise

Perplexity is looking for a Lead Product Designer to own the design of our enterprise product. You'll design new experiences across enterprise and multiplayer use cases — making software that feels like the future but can be understood and used by anyone in the world today. These surfaces are net-new and, in many cases, unprecedented. You'll be building them 0→1, which means bringing deep knowledge of how enterprise software actually works: organizational and seat management, and deeply nuanced role-based experiences that account for workplace policy, compliance, administrative management, privacy, permissions, and security. You'll ship features that balance well-established UI paradigms with novel applications of AI, working independently and strategically to find both the problems worth solving and the solutions worth shipping. Good design that nobody gets to use is wasted, so you'll optimize for getting great software into customers' hands and learning from real usage. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and the broader design team, and you care about everything it takes to make a product great: product, interaction, brand, growth, copywriting, engineering, and marketing. WHAT YOU'LL DO Design net-new, 0→1 enterprise surfaces across enterprise and general multiplayer use cases Design for the realities of enterprise software: organizational management, seat management, admin controls, permissions, privacy, security, and compliance Craft deeply nuanced role-based experiences that adapt to workplace policy and different levels of access and responsibility Ship features that balance well-established UI paradigms with novel applications of AI Make software that feels like the future but can be used and understood by anyone in the world today Work independently and strategically — finding the problems and the solutions Own work end-to-end, from 0→1 product design through large-scale optimization Contribute to process so we're always shipping changes you're proud of, as often as possible Partner with brand design to ensure the enterprise product is not only useful but memorable WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Experience designing enterprise, consumer, or prosumer products Deep knowledge of enterprise software: organizational and seat management, role-based access, admin management, permissions, privacy, security, and compliance Experience designing non-deterministic tools used by large workplace cohorts — eg.Figma, Slack, Ramp, Airtable Comfortable thinking about both 0→1 product design and large-scale optimization Excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills An excellent communicator with team members and users Comfort prototyping or coding your ideas You care about shipping great software more than anything else 5+ years of industry experience NICE TO HAVE Some of our design team writes production code — we welcome existing skills or interest in coding with React or SwiftUI

Lead Product Designer, Growth

Perplexity is looking for an experienced Lead Product Designer to own design for Growth. You'll shape the experiences that bring Perplexity to as many people as possible — making software that feels like the future but can be understood and used by anyone in the world today. Growth design has its own craft and nuance. You'll own the highest-leverage moments in the user journey: first-run onboarding and activation, consumer acquisition surfaces, conversion and upsell flows, paywalls and pricing, and the retention loops that turn first-time users into daily ones. This is design where a few pixels or a single step can move real numbers, so you'll pair a high craft bar with rigorous experimentation — shipping constantly and letting real data guide the work. You care about clarity, craft, details, and delight as much as you care about growth and impact. This role is deeply cross-functional: you'll partner closely with our Growth and Product Marketing teams to align on positioning, messaging, and funnel strategy, and you care about everything it takes to make a product great: product, interaction, brand, growth, copywriting, engineering, and marketing. WHAT YOU'LL DO Lead product design for Growth across the full funnel — acquisition, onboarding, activation, conversion, upsells, and retention Design first-run and onboarding experiences that get users to value as fast as possible Craft consumer acquisition and activation surfaces, and conversion/upsell flows including paywalls, pricing, and plan comparison Partner closely with Growth and Product Marketing on positioning, messaging, landing experiences, and funnel strategy Design and run experiments, using data and real usage to drive decisions and measure impact Ship features that balance well-established UI paradigms with novel applications of AI Think about how to go from 0→1 but also how to make your decisions scale well Contribute to process so we're always shipping changes you're proud of, as often as possible Partner with brand design to ensure our growth surfaces are not only effective but memorable WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Experience designing consumer or prosumer products, with a strong track record in growth design Deep understanding of growth nuances: onboarding, activation, acquisition, conversion, upsells, paywalls, pricing, and retention A data-informed approach — fluent in experimentation, funnels, and metrics, and comfortable learning from usage Experience partnering with Growth, Product Marketing, and cross-functional teams on messaging and funnel strategy Comfortable thinking about both 0→1 product design and large-scale optimization Excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills An excellent communicator with team members and users You care about shipping great software more than anything else 5+ years of industry experience NICE TO HAVE Comfort prototyping or coding your ideas Some of our design team writes production code — we welcome existing skills or interest in coding with React or SwiftUI

On a given day, you might be: leading a design sprint for your product team; designing a micro-interaction to make a complex analytical task feel simple; and/or advocating for UX consistency by creating flexible, reusable UI components. Core Responsibilities As a Product Design intern, your responsibilities look similar to a full-time designer, with the resources, stability, and mentorship of an established tech company. You will work with fellow Designers, Product Managers, Developers, and Forward Deployed Engineers to refine and evolve the quality of Palantir products. Interaction and visual design . You'll help define early product concepts, flesh out the high-level workflow and micro-interactions of a feature, and execute on a crisp and effective visual design. You should have experience designing and prototyping using tools such as Figma. User research . We frequently do informal user research, and value people who can be flexible with research processes and methodologies to achieve the right outcome. You'll often visit customer offices to interview and learn from the users we serve. You'll pair qualitative methods (e.g. scripted usability tests and contextual inquiry) with quantitative information, like product and usage metrics. Deliver and communicate designs in close collaboration . We work closely with product and forward deployed engineers to realize our design ideas. You'll treat engineers and product managers as partners and collaborate with them to prototype and build out products. Awareness of how software interfaces are built. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Typescript is appreciated. High empathy and dedication to the user, striving to understand and empower them. An iterative design process. You rapidly incorporate feedback, and prioritize collaboration. You are adept at giving and receiving critiques. Excitement for solving hard, complex problems. You are excited to design for technically complex and data dense interfaces. You thrive in an environment where you can jump into deep subject matter expertise to define simple, approachable, yet still powerful product experiences. Design Engineer, Growth & Marketing

Perplexity is looking for a Design Engineer to help turn perplexity.com http://perplexity.com into a real growth engine, not a pile of one-off pages. You'll sit shoulder to shoulder with brand designers, PMMs, growth, and content teams, shipping product launch pages, campaign landing pages, and the components and tooling that let those teams move fast without lowering the bar. This is a hands-on role for someone with real taste, sharp attention to detail, and the speed to turn a Figma file, a Slack thread, or a rough sketch into a polished, shipped page quickly. Tech stack: React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Sanity WHAT YOU'LL DO Ship product launch pages and evergreen marketing pages for products like Comet, Computer, Deep Research, Search, and Hub. Own the work from Figma handoff to production. Partner with brand designers to build interactive experiences that make the site feel alive and drive engagement. Maintain and extend our brand design system and component library, keeping Figma and production in sync so brand and creative can scaffold pages with guardrails. Work closely with the paid ads and growth teams to run A/B tests on landing pages, popups, and upsell modules. Read the results, then iterate. Migrate the leftover Framer collections to Sanity, model schemas that non-engineers can actually use, and help ship new content types like changelog, customer stories, and academy pages. Design and unblock yourself when design resources are constrained. You can take a rough direction and turn it into something worth shipping. Improve the tools around the work: CMS workflows, i18n, SEO, experimentation, and internal tooling for marketing self-serve. If a manual process is slowing the team down, you should want to fix it. WHAT YOU NEED 3+ years of experience as a front-end or design engineer, ideally on a marketing or growth site. A portfolio site that shows your previous work on marketing sites and design work. Strong skills in React, CSS, and modern frameworks. Deep understanding of responsive design and design-to-code workflows. You know what the platform can do and you stay current on what's new. Experience maintaining a reusable component library and sweating the design details in code. A real eye for design. You can tell the difference between "almost right" and "actually right," and your work reflects it. Attention to detail that shows up unprompted. The 2px misalignment, the wrong easing curve, the widow at the end of the paragraph. Stellar communication skills and a track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams. You can defend a decision, push back constructively, and explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders. Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, continuously grow, and master your craft. NICE TO HAVE Experience running A/B tests and reading experiments results in a growth context. Knowledge of SEO principles, structured data, and localization workflows. Experience with web animations (GSAP, Motion, Web Animations API), 3D libraries, or interactive storytelling. Experience working with a headless CMS (Sanity, Contentful). Experience building internal tools or AI-assisted workflows that made a marketing or design team faster.
