Role Overview
This position will lead the plant transformation services of PSBA at the WAITE campus. The role includes managing transformation projects, leading a technical team focused on key crop species, running tissue culture and molecular biology experiments, streamlining operational processes, liaising across PSBA AU, and collaborating with the Innovation Officer to develop new service offerings.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage plant transformation projects, ensuring timely delivery.
- Supervise and mentor a team of scientists and technicians in tissue culture and molecular biology methods.
- Develop and optimise transformation protocols and production pipelines.
- Maintain and improve laboratory and growth facility operations.
- Collaborate with the Innovation Officer to create new service offerings and improve methodologies.
- Prepare and communicate high quality, timely reports and documentation.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards such, or a PhD in plant science, genetics, physiology, biotechnology, or a substantially relevant discipline.
- Extensive independent research experience with a record of high quality publications involving plant transformation.
- Demonstrated success in executing plant transformation projects and meeting deadlines.
- Experience managing multi stakeholder projects and building effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
- Experience in a service oriented environment and pipeline development/optimisation in plant transformation.
- Excellent workload management and reporting skills.
