Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Manager to oversee our client's mixed irrigated and dryland farming operation, located just 15 minutes from Emerald in Central Queensland. This family-run enterprise spans 1,000 hectares of irrigation and 800 hectares of dry-land cropping, with a strong focus on cotton, chickpeas, and mung beans. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of production to achieve high yields, efficiency, and profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily farm operations, including planting, irrigation, spraying, harvesting, and maintenance
  • Lead and manage a team of farm staff, contractors, and seasonal workers
  • Monitor crop health and implement effective pest, weed, and disease management strategies
  • Operate and maintain modern farming machinery and irrigation systems
  • Develop and manage budgets, record keeping, and reporting, working closely with the owner
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Collaborate with the owner, agronomists, and consultants to maximise crop performance
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience managing large-scale cotton or broad-acre operations
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of modern cropping and irrigation practices
  • Competent in operating and maintaining modern agricultural equipment
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Sound understanding of farm financials and reporting
  • Honest, reliable, and hardworking, with a strong commitment to long-term success

This position suits an experienced Farm Manager looking to take on greater responsibility in a long-term, stable role within a supportive family operation.

Comfortable on-farm accommodation is provided - a four-bedroom home just minutes from Emerald, a thriving regional hub offering excellent schools, shopping, healthcare, and community facilities.

Please note this position is not available to Working Holiday Visa Holders.

Due to the large volume of applications we receive, we will only contact shortlisted applicants.
