Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee a 600-acre property near Echuca, VIC, comprising 200 acres of hay and 400 acres of turf. This hands-on role involves managing the planting, cultivation, and harvesting of both crops, operating machinery, and occasionally supervising a small team. With regular communication with the owner, each day promises to be varied and engaging.
Key duties- Oversee planting, growing, and harvesting of Lucerne hay and turf
- Manage fertiliser programs and chemical spraying
- Liaise with agronomists to optimise yield
- Operate and maintain machinery including John Deere & New Holland balers, mowers, rakers
- Handle turf harvesting and mowing operations
- Manage irrigation systems (flood and lateral)
- Lead and coordinate staff, ensuring efficient time management
- Support logistics and transport - MC truck licence desirable
- Proven experience in hay and/or turf production
- Chem Cert accreditation and sound agronomic knowledge
- Strong machinery operation skills - telehandler, front-end loader, turf mowers
- Irrigation system experience and basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting
- Leadership qualities with excellent communication and organisational skills
- MC truck licence highly regarded
