We're looking for a Senior Project Officer to join our Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) at the Department for Energy and Mining (DEM). This is your chance to shape the future of project management across a forward-thinking department delivering on South Australia's strategic energy and mining priorities.
About the opportunityAs a key member of the EPMO team, the Senior Project Officer will be responsible for implementing robust project control disciplines across DEM. You will work closely with project and program teams to drive excellence across governance, scheduling, risk management, cost control, benefits tracking, reporting, and more.
As a EPMO Senior Project Officer, you will:
- Provide expert advice and support aligned with DEM's project management framework ("The DEM Way").
- Support and challenge projects through project control techniques and portfolio insights.
- Contribute to the optimisation and performance monitoring of the project portfolio.
- Guide project teams through Gateway reviews and compliance requirements.
- Help embed a strong, standardised approach to project delivery as DEM rolls out a new Target Operating Model.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has strong knowledge of project management and project control principles and systems, and their applications.
- Demonstrates experience in implementing and maintaining effective project and program controls within an enterprise-level PMO or corporate governance structure.
- Has proven ability to provide Project/Program management expert advice and guidance across a wide range of complex and strategic programs/projects.
- Able to build, facilitate and maintain strong and effective partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Has proven ability to work autonomously or as a team and consistently, prioritise and deliver work to a high standard.
- Demonstrates high level of accuracy and attention to detail combined with strong analytical skills.
- Able to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with people at all levels and from a range of backgrounds.

Essential: A project, programme, or portfolio management qualification such as PMP, P3O, Prince II, MSP
RemunerationASO6 salary range $98,478 - $104,165 per annum + superannuation. Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week
Special ConditionsThis is a contract/term vacancy up to 12 months with possibility for ongoing.
