About the Role

We're seeking enthusiastic and community-minded Customer Service Officers to join council teams across Adelaide. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for residents and visitors, providing information, processing requests and payments, and assisting with a wide range of services. Working across different divisions; front-of-house, phones, and online digital channels, your mission will be to deliver a positive and professional customer experience every day.

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality customer service via phone, email, and in-person enquiries.
  • Accurately process requests, payments, and applications using council systems.
  • Assist with development applications, lodgements, and invoicing in liaison with internal officers.
  • Maintain accurate records and update databases and knowledge systems.
  • Support community programs and provide advice on council services, facilities, and events.
  • Handle enquiries and resolve issues with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Contribute to team goals, continuous improvement initiatives, and organisational values.
Candidate Requirements
  • Current or priorwork experience in Local Government.
  • Strong customer service focus with excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Confident with IT systems, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and handling difficult situations with empathy.
  • Previous experience in customer service, call centre, or front counter operations preferred.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work across rosters and support occasional out-of-hours needs.
  • Hold a current National Police Clearance issued within the last 12 months.
