This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

As the Global Lead Construction Safety, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic leadership, global governance, and operational oversight across capital investment projects worldwide. Working within our Global Capital Investment team, you will cultivate a proactive safety culture that protects workers and the environment while empowering diverse teams to deliver impactful work. This is a unique opportunity to shape global safety standards and lead meaningful, sustainable change across our international sites network.

The Opportunity

  • Establish and enforce global standards: Drive the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of global construction safety guidance across all capital projects in strict alignment with corporate directives.
  • Cultivate a shared safety culture: Build a positive, unified safety culture centered on active employee and contractor engagement, positive recognition, and visible leadership.
  • Deploy standardized tools and frameworks: Develop and roll out best-practice toolkits—including Construction Safety Plans, risk checklists, and tender attachments—to equip project delivery teams for success.
  • Empower site members and stop-work authority: Enforce robust safety observation processes that empower site personnel to recognize hazards, promote safe behaviors, and exercise Stop Work Authority for unsafe conditions.
  • Lead incident response and continuous learning: Ensure rapid reporting of recordable cases and champion organization-wide lessons-learned initiatives from investigations to prevent future risks.
  • Monitor performance and evaluate project readiness: Track monthly leading safety indicators and participate in formal project reviews across all delivery phases to evaluate construction safety readiness.

Who You Are

  • Educational & Professional Foundation: You hold a Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, paired with a recognized professional safety credential such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Proven Track Record: You bring at least 15 years of international construction safety experience across diverse corporate cultures, with demonstrated success managing safety for large capital investment projects.
  • Matrix Leadership & Communication: You are an influential, collaborative leader who excels in matrix organizations without direct reporting lines, offering exceptional cross-cultural openness and clear communication across all levels.
  • Systematic & Courageous Mindset: You demonstrate strong systematic thinking, high self-reflection, and transparent decision-making, with the passion and autonomy needed to independently shape organizational processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Language & Mobility: You are fluent in English (with German skills or a willingness to learn), and you are open to international travel up to 20%.

We look forward to your application!
