Deli/Bakery Merchandiser

Overview: This is a field position that supports W. Lee Flowers IGA and KJ Market retail locations and is based in South Carolina. The ideal candidate will be located in Columbia, SC or surrounding area. The Deli/Bakery Merchandiser will oversee deli/bakery operations in assigned locations. This role is responsible for training and development of employees to maximize sales. Responsibilities: Develop and provide job aids and train deli/bakery managers to effectively run their departments and understand performance targets and goals. Includes ongoing training on all aspects of the deli/bakery and the employees. Set goals for performance that comply with the company's plans and vision, coach department managers to meet their objectives and financial goals. Monitor productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching. Inspect equipment in the facility to ensure they are being properly used, cleaned and maintained. Maintains scales to ensure all retails in department are correct. Ensure Deli/Bakery departments are maintained, ensuring a neat, clean, and safe environment. Ensure the products are properly labeled with correct retails and the proper shelf life. Review deli/bakery weekly paperwork, invoices, and shrink control. Monitor rotation and proper stock levels. Analyze shrink contributors and coach processes to reduce shrink, increase sales, and improve gross profit. Monitor coolers, freezers and backrooms for sanitation, food items being properly stored and rotated. Ensure the highest standards for sanitation and safe food handling practices. Ensures desired customer service levels are achieved. Monitors ongoing program effectiveness, provides feedback to appropriate teams. Works with Operations and Human Resources to identify staffing needs and developing successors. Qualifications: Should possess the knowledge and skills to effectively manage any deli/bakery department. Should have 2-4 years management experience and thorough knowledge of deli/bakery operations. Excellent verbal communicator. Be able to teach and influence store managers to comply with company standards in department. Self motivator with ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
