Randstad is actively searching for a Workshop Supervisor, for one of our market leading clients in the Transport market, based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne.
Ideally you will be a Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with proven supervisory experience to lead our client's busy workshop. This leadership role demands a strong Safety Champion to oversee the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and servicing of the heavy vehicle fleet, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
You'll be the linchpin of the workshop, driving operational excellence and team accountability across three core areas:
- Operational Leadership: Allocate workloads, oversee quality control ("right first time"), manage resources, and coordinate vehicle movements and schedules (including emergency callouts).
- People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanics and apprentices. Conduct pre-start meetings and foster a positive, high-performance culture.
- Safety & Compliance: Act as the Safety Champion, ensuring strict adherence to WHS legislation, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and implementing process improvements.
- Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with proven workshop supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and road compliance.
- Exceptional Safety Leadership and WHS awareness.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- HR/HC Licence and fleet software experience is highly desirable.
