Central Regional TAFE is responsible for delivering customer focused, industry aligned training and pathways to higher education to build a skilled, productive and employment ready workforce. We deliver 185 courses to 10,000 students each year in the Mid West region - Geraldton, Batavia Coast Maritime Institute and Technology Park, the Gascoyne region - Carnarvon and Exmouth, the Goldfields region - Kalgoorlie and the Wheatbelt region - Northam, Merredin and Moora.

About the role

The Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHS Officer), as a member of the Work Health and Safety team, will contribute to the development, implementation and review of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives and processes that contribute to a healthy and safe work environment for all.

To be successful, ideally you will have experience in providing accurate administrative support, maintaining records and databases, preparing reports or meeting documentation. You will be confident using software systems and demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively. You will be committed to building your knowledge of workplace health and safety and undertaking further training and mentoring.

Qualifications: You may be required to hold an Australian or Australian equivalent qualification. For overseas qualifications the Overseas Qualifications Unit (OQU) offers a free assessment service to recognise your tertiary or higher education qualification(s). For further information: OQU

Other Conditions and Eligibility

Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance. If this position involves contact with children, the occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card.

To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).

Over the next twelve months, suitable candidates may be offered appointment to similar and subsequent vacancies within the College, other TAFE Colleges or across WA Government (subject to candidate permission being granted).

Should no suitable applicant be identified, or an offer declined, the panel may search for further applicants beyond the closing date.
