Job Description About the Role

As a Volunteer Restorative Yoga Teacher, you will support DPV Health's Social Support Team at Meadow Heights by delivering gentle yoga and movement classes tailored to elderly participants. This is a vital role that helps make a real difference in the lives of community members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver safe, accessible yoga sessions for elderly participants, focusing on gentle movement, breathing, and relaxation.
  • Adapt exercises to suit varying levels of ability, mobility, and health conditions.
  • Encourage participation and build confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment.
  • Set up and pack away equipment and ensure the space is safe and welcoming.
  • Maintain clear and respectful communication with participants and staff.
  • Promote physical activity as a way to support independence, wellbeing, and social connection.
  • Commit to a regular volunteer schedule (e.g., 1-2 hours weekly or fortnightly, as agreed).
Desired Skills and Experience About You
  • Experience and trained in yoga, fitness, or movement-based practices.
  • Patience, understanding, and respect for elderly people and those with diverse needs.
  • Ability to adapt yoga practices for chair-based, low-mobility, or gentle exercise sessions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, encouraging approach.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and commitment to supporting participant wellbeing.
