Structural Engineer

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Structural Engineer to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This position is onsite.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist in the creation and modification of Installation Design Plans (IDPs) and other design drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)

• Participate in site surveys to gather critical data, assess existing infrastructure, and document site conditions

• Conduct wind/load analysis for antenna and equipment installations on various structures, including towers and buildings, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards

• Develop and revise structural and mechanical diagrams, ensuring clear and concise representation of system components and their integration

• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and contribute to design solutions

• Review technical documentation for completeness and accuracy, specifically focusing on structural integrity

• Assist with data entry and organization of technical information related to structural analysis

• Learn and apply relevant industry standards, codes (e.g., IBC, ASCE), and best practices for structural design

• Up to 25% travel can be expected

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field and 8 years experience

• Strong understanding of structural analysis principles, mechanics of materials, and design methodologies

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD)

• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, safe designs

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, structural schematics, and engineering specifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, RISA-3D) is a significant plus

Clearance Requirements:

• Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%

• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
