YHA Cairns Centra is ideally situated in the bustling centre of Cairns, boasting 209 beds across 59 rooms, all set in a relaxed ambiance with expansive outdoor living areas and verdant tropical flora. It's an excellent base for venturing into the extraordinary convergence of two World Heritage wonders: the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Immerse yourself in the reef's dazzling marine life through scuba diving or snorkelling, unveiling the breathtaking coral habitats. Meanwhile, Mission Beach provides a perpetual summer atmosphere in a tranquil coastal town, renowned for sightings of the rare cassowary.

About the role

We have an opportunity for a full time Shift Manager to join the Management Team. Reporting to the Property Manager, this role ensures the smooth and efficient running of the property and team, focusing on team leadership and providing exceptional service to guests in close collaboration with the Assistant Manager and Property Manager.

What you'll get to do
  • Promote a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the property and ensure that the property is representative of YHA values and mission
  • Manage daily operations including check ins/outs, group movements, activities and events
  • Constantly support the team to maintain high standards of hygiene and safety, providing hands on support when required
  • Prepare shift reports and communicate relevant information to the Property Manager and other team members
  • Act as the first point of contact in emergency situations, following established protocols and SOPs
What are we looking for
  • Experience as a Duty Manager, Shift Manager, Front of House Manager or any team leader role in an accommodation or Hotel style environment
  • RSA, First Aid & CPR certification is beneficial
  • Availability for a rotating roster
  • Proven leader with a passion for seeing your team succeed
