Remuneration: $88,300 inclusive of super

About the role

Due to internal movements and several new business projects, Aurizon is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our Payroll team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. These roles play an important part in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll services that support our workforce across Australia.

You'll join a collaborative and experienced team that underpins the employee experience - delivering high-quality service, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide end-to-end payroll administrative services, ensuring accurate processing and payment of employee entitlements.
  • Maintain employee records, process manual timesheets, and assist with travel expense claims.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll procedures, agreements, and legislation.
  • Provide clear, customer-focused advice on payroll and entitlements.
  • Contribute to process improvements and the ongoing review of payroll practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a consistent and efficient payroll service.
We're looking for someone with
  • Experience in payroll and/or HR administrative services within a large, complex organisation.
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems (Chris21).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Sound understanding of employee entitlements, industrial instruments, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
