Lecturer, Dietetics and Human Nutrition - continuing, full-time opportunity based at La Trobe University's Melbourne (Bundoora) campus. Level B Teaching & Research.
About the positionWe are seeking a dedicated Lecturer to develop, coordinate and deliver a high-quality learning experience that actively engages students through tutorials and practical classes. The successful candidate will demonstrate a scholarly approach to learning and teaching and participate in the innovative design, development and review of course-level curriculum. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the role involves conducting and publishing high-quality and/or high-impact research, either independently or as part of a team. You will also co-supervise or supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR) postgraduate students as required, providing academic mentorship and support. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant academic community with access to resources that support professional growth and impactful scholarship.
Responsibilities- Develop, coordinate and deliver high-quality learning experiences for students through tutorials and practical classes.
- Engage in scholarly approaches to teaching and participate in curriculum design, development and review at the course level.
- Conduct, publish and contribute to high-quality and/or high-impact research, independently or as part of a team.
- Co-supervise or supervise HDR postgraduate students, providing academic mentorship and support.
- Contribute to a vibrant academic community and leverage resources that support professional growth and impactful scholarship.
- PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas.
- Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development.
- Evidence of high-quality and/or high-impact research conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honours and postgraduate students.
- High level organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, initiate and follow-up actions, all with minimal or no supervision.
- High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in preparing research proposal submissions to external funding bodies and evidence of success in securing research funding.
- Proven experience and success in subject coordination and managing a teaching team.
- Knowledge, expertise and skills in at least one of the following areas: food security/systems, lifespan nutrition, food habits/behaviour, public health or clinical nutrition.
- Ability to teach subjects including: lifespan nutrition, principles of nutrition, nutrition and disease, sports nutrition, public health nutrition, clinical nutrition/dietetics, research skills, and food chemistry/science.
