The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Internal Bookkeeper to join our team at our Head Office located in Hillcrest (4118).
This full-time, office-based role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with legislation and industry requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Accounts Manager and will also collaborate with the Company Accountant to manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, payroll processing, and statutory reporting.
Key Employment Requirements
Qualifications, Licences and Identification Documents:
- Evidence of Australian Work Rights (Mandatory)
- Valid QLD Driver's Licence
- Qualified Bookkeeper (essential)
- Up-to-date CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and knowledge of current legislation
Key Experience and Capabilities:
- Minimum of 3 years' bookkeeping experience (construction industry preferred)
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and compliance requirements
- Essential: Proficiency in Xero accounting software and Employment Hero (HRIS - payroll)
- Experience submitting WorkCover, QLeave, and GST reports
- Strong understanding of payroll, accounts payable & receivable, and reconciliations
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently
- High attention to detail, integrity, and confidentiality
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records using Xero, ensuring smooth financial operations
- Deliver essential payroll support by onboarding new employees and setting them up in Employment Hero, ensuring compliance requirements are met
- Submit WorkCover, QLeave, and GST reports accurately and on time
- Complete daily bank reconciliations and review debtor/creditor statements
- Manage accounts payable & receivable functions
- Collaborate with the Senior Accounts Manager and Accountant (BAS preparation handled by Accountant)
- Assist with ad hoc financial reporting as required
