Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Environmental Manager - Noise to lead a specialist team delivering critical regulatory and scientific services in environmental noise. This senior-level role combines deep technical expertise with high-level leadership, overseeing the administration of the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 and providing authoritative advice on complex environmental noise issues.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping policy, guiding regulatory decisions, and supporting major reforms across jurisdictions, while mentoring a team of professionals and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive best-practice outcomes.

This is a rare opportunity for a senior environmental professional with a strong background in acoustics, environmental science, or engineering to step into a role that blends scientific rigour with strategic influence. Your expertise will directly inform environmental policy and regulatory frameworks, contributing to meaningful, long-term outcomes across the state.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a specialist team delivering regulatory and scientific services in environmental noise.
  • Oversee administration of the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997.
  • Provide authoritative advice on complex environmental noise issues.
  • Shape policy, guide regulatory decisions, and support major reforms across jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive best-practice outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop team members.
Qualifications
  • Highly experienced and strategic leader with a strong foundation in environmental science, acoustics, or engineering.
  • Deep understanding of environmental noise regulation.
  • Strategic mindset, sound judgement, and ability to navigate complex technical and legislative challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide high-level advice.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships and guiding specialist teams.
  • Ability to deliver impactful, science-based regulatory outcomes.
