Director of Risk ManagementResponsibilities:

  • Develop and execute risk management strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement
  • Lead and mentor a team of risk management professionals, driving claims handling, safety initiatives, and risk reduction programs
  • Oversee training programs, including new hire safety orientation and driver training, to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
  • Manage accident and incident response processes, including investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Monitor and enforce safety standards for fleet operations, equipment maintenance, and cargo securement
  • Oversee workers' compensation and return-to-work programs, identifying opportunities to reduce risk and cost exposure
  • Act as the company's representative in legal matters related to risk management
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve safety concerns
  • Analyze risk-related data, share findings with stakeholders, and recommend performance and safety enhancements

Director of Risk Management PositionRequirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; industry-specific continuing education preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in risk management, including DOT/OSHA compliance within a motor carrier or related industry
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams and cross-functional initiatives
  • Professional safety certification (e.g., ASSE) preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with risk management software and technology
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and ergonomics program administration
