Many older people may have little contact with friends and relatives, and some will feel isolated from their culture and heritage. Your regular visit will help improve their wellbeing and can make a positive difference to their lives as well as your own. Visiting time may include enjoying a cuppa and a chat, playing a game, listening to music, or reading, discussing current events, having a walk, watching and discussing sport, gardening, doing puzzles or having a game of cards.

CommitmentRegular - more than 6 months
TrainingOrientation training is mandatory. Attend training as required.
Time required1 hour per week or fortnight. Days and times are flexible depending on your availability and those of your matched friend.
Requirements- National Police Certificate
Volunteers need to:Be 18 years+Have genuine empathy, understanding and enjoyment of the company of older people.Be committed to developing a strong and ongoing relationship with an older person over an extended period.Be reliable and flexible.Be able to volunteer with limited supervision.Undertake orientation and required training.
