Position Summary
The Corrosion Specialist position provides technical expertise and guidance to Operations, Engineering, and Management for programs specific to internal corrosion such as the pigging program, chemical program, and monitoring program. This position is highly interactive with both area operations and critical contactors/vendors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Job tasks/functions:
Support pigging frequency and management
Chemical invoicing management and forecasting
Internal corrosion plan of control development for given region/area
Total system analysis review and risk matrix updates and management
Monitoring locations, type, compliance, scheduling, auditing, etc.
H2S scavenging support
Support Operations with chemical applications to solve reoccurring issues
KPI / Exception Tracking meetings
Provides in-field support to corrosion technicians, corrosion related projects, chemical vendors, corrosion monitoring vendors, etc.
Issues purchase requisitions and tracks invoicing from purchase orders from vendors.
Develops information and compiles reports related to compliance dates for both internal and external corrosion in accordance with CFR 192/195, PSM requirements, and other associated company and industry standards.
Develops visual tools to assist stakeholders in their understanding of various data sets such as scheduling, compliance, project work, etc.
Analyzes exports from GIS/Compliance and reconciles versus corrosion database to ensure regulatory compliance.
Coordinates management of change (MOC) pre and post startup tasks.
Develops and maintains critical industry relationships.
Requirements
Six (6) or more years of experience associated with internal corrosion program management
Preferred: experience as chemical account manager or program manager
AMPP/NACE Internal Corrosion Technologist Level 1
Preferred: AMPP/NACE Cathodic Protection Technician (CP2)
Working knowledge with the following standards and regulations
ASME B31 (B31.3 and B31.4)
AMPP Corrosion Standards
DOT regulations 49 CFR Part 192 (natural gas) and 49 CFR Part 195 (hazardous liquids)
Familiar with Microsoft Products
Driver's License Required
Working Conditions:
Preferred office work based in San Antonio, TX, but listed alternatives will be considered.
Travel 25-30%. Overnight travel will be required.
Occasional visits to field offices, pipeline ROWs, well sites, compressor stations, and processing plants, which may have the following conditions:
Driving, walking, and standing frequently
Exposure to adverse weather
Exposure to various hydrocarbon products and chemicals
Requirements for appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to be worn.
