About Jayur HouseJayur House is a specialised program within Kanda's Children, Youth & Family Services, designed to support some of Queensland's most vulnerable young people who have disengaged from traditional placements. The program provides intensive, trauma-informed care to help young people stabilise, re-engage, and transition successfully into safe and sustainable living environments.
We are seeking experienced Youth Workers to join the Jayur House team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a highly specialised environment, where your skills and commitment can make a transformative difference in the lives of young people with complex needs.
As a valued member of our Kanda team, you will- Provide direct care, supervision, and support to young people with high and complex needs.
- Develop and implement tailored strategies to re-engage young people in education, therapeutic supports, and community life.
- Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches, grounded in The Sanctuary Model, to create a safe, stable, and positive living environment.
- Assist with daily routines while supporting young people to build independence and self-care skills.
- Build trust and strong relationships, offering consistent emotional support and guidance.
- Work collaboratively with internal specialists and external stakeholders, including the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety, to ensure coordinated care and progression of each young person's placement pathway.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to care planning and review processes.
- Demonstrated experience supporting young people with complex trauma, behaviours of concern, or disrupted placement histories.
- Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to work in high-pressure situations with a therapeutic mindset.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
- Relevant qualifications (Certificate IV or above in Youth Work, Community Services, or similar).
- Commitment to cultural awareness and inclusive practice, particularly in working alongside First Nations young people.
- Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check or being willing and eligible to obtain prior to commencement.
