Summary:

The Youth Worker will be responsible for promoting the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of young people by providing programs and services that support their personal growth and development. They will work with other professionals, community organizations, and parents/guardians to provide a safe, engaging, and healthy environment for youth.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement activities and programs that meet the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of youth.
  • Provide support, guidance, and counseling to youth on issues affecting their lives, such as relationships, school, career aspirations, and health.
  • Work with other professionals, community organizations, and parents/guardians to provide a safe, engaging, and healthy environment for youth.
  • Advocate for the rights and well-being of young people, and communicate with government agencies, schools, and social services to secure resources and support for youth programs.
  • Encourage positive relationships and peer support among youth, and supervise activities to ensure their safety.
  • Help youth develop leadership skills, and promote their participation in community activities and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and progress of youth, and prepare reports as required.
  • Attend team meetings, community events, and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in working with youth in a community-based setting.
  • Must have knowledge of child development, adolescent counseling, and community resources.
  • Must possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of youth and families.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • The successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check.
