Overview Of The Role

The Interior Designer at IKEA plays a crucial role in bringing creative and sustainable home furnishing solutions to life, catering to both individual customers and B2B clients. This position requires a deep understanding of design principles, customer needs, and IKEA products to develop functional, aesthetic, and innovative designs. The role involves active customer engagement, collaboration with sales and project management teams, and a commitment to IKEA's brand values and sustainability practices.

What You Will Do : Design Solutions
  • Create relevant, functional, and commercial home furnishing solutions that position IKEA as the leader in life at home.
  • Present the IKEA home furnishing offer with strong functional and visual impressions that exceed expectations for both Home Planning and Corporate Customers.
  • Conduct in-depth consultations with individual customers to understand lifestyle needs, budget, and space limitations.
  • Develop personalized home furnishing solutions using IKEA products, including layouts, mood boards, and 3D visualizations.
  • Stay informed about the latest IKEA product offerings and promotions to ensure recommendations are current and relevant.
B2B Design Solutions
  • Collaborate with B2B clients to understand specific design requirements and brand identity.
  • Develop commercially viable interior design plans using IKEA products to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces.
  • Work closely with the sales team to present proposals and secure B2B contracts.
  • Ensure the delivery of projects meets IKEA's quality standards and brand guidelines.
Collaboration & Project Management
  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams to implement design concepts.
  • Work with B2C Sales Specialists to optimize stock availability and identify sales steering potentials.
  • Contribute to range updates and the successful execution of design projects.
General Responsibilities
  • Stay up-to-date with interior design trends and best practices.
  • Incorporate IKEA's sustainability practices into design recommendations.
  • Effectively collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer service to deliver a seamless design experience.
  • Contribute to achieving sales targets for specific IKEA product categories.
Required Skills To Be Successful
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and REVIT.
  • Customer-centric approach with active listening and engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong understanding of IKEA's sustainability practices and ability to integrate them into design solutions.
What Qualifies You For The Role
  • Diploma or degree in Interior Design or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in interior design with expertise in space planning and furniture selection.
  • Strong knowledge of IKEA products, functionality, and design principles.
  • Proven ability to consult with both individual customers and B2B clients, along with excellent communication skills.
