Position InformationGresford Public School is a caring school community in a rural area of the Hunter Valley committed to achieving high educational outcomes for all students. This commitment is evidenced in the range and depth of both curricular and extra-curricular programs offered after careful analysis of student needs. Student enrolment for 2025 is 48, with an increasing range of diversity.
Academic needs are provided for through the flexible organisation of available staffing and the offer of a range of support programs designed to both extend and consolidate student learning, including Learning Support, small group instruction, and differentiation for High Potential and Gifted students.
Positive Behaviour For Learning (PBL) is utilised to support student well-being and consistency of approaches across the school community. Enrichment programs, such as STEAM and Creative Arts, cater for individual student needs and provide opportunities for all students to achieve their inquiry and creative potential.
As part of the Dungog Community of Schools, Gresford Public School will continue to be involved in collaboratively determined group curriculum concepts such as the Aboriginal Cultural Days, the High Potential and Gifted Education Initiative, the STEAM initiatives and needs-based teacher professional learning in the area of explicit teaching and other relevant transition and wellbeing programs.
Our school seeks to maximise student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy through extensive data and evidence-based practice. Teachers will engage in high-impact professional learning based on the most current research in explicit teaching to strengthen teaching practices to identify and address student needs. There is a planned approach to developing whole school wellbeing processes that support students welfare and engagement.
Specific Selection Criteria- A visible leader who effectively champions excellence in pedagogy and curriculum implementation, ensuring that school programs and initiatives cater to the diverse needs of all students while aligned to system priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively lead all members of the school community with a foundation of positive and authentic relationships that supports the implementation of the School Excellence Plan.
- Capacity to lead the development and implementation of proactive strategies that promote the wellbeing of students and staff, fostering a culturally responsive and inclusive environment that supports effective teaching and learning.
- High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.
- Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
- Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
- Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
- Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2025 and Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2026.
