  • Call Type: Trauma and General Surgery
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Inpatient rounding (post-op patients)
  • ED & inpatient consults
  • OR and follow-up clinic visits
  • Procedures: laparoscopic, open, robotic surgery, endoscopy
  • Trauma call coverage
  • Clinic consults and outreach work
Team Structure & Support
  • Physicians: 2 General Surgeons (as of June 2025), 1 acute surgicalist (eGS)
  • APPs: 2 Advanced Practice Providers
  • Supervision: eGS acute surgicalist oversees APPs
  • Support Staff:
  • 1 clinical staff per physician
  • 2 receptionists per department
  • Medical Imaging, Lab & Pharmacy on-site
  • Facilities:
  • 2 exam rooms & 2 procedure rooms per providerPatient Population & Volume
    • Hospital Census: 160 patients/day (primarily consults)
    • Clinic Volume: N/A - mostly trauma/inpatient coverage
    • Population Served: 200,000+ across 16 counties (Hub hospital)
    Academic Environment
    • Teaching opportunities with Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residencies (University of Iowa affiliation)
    Licensure & Certification Requirements
    • Board Certification: Required
    • Licensure: Active IA license or Compact License - Required
