About the roleWe are seeking a Supervising Scientist to join our team at Healius. This role combines supervising staff with hands-on laboratory work.
Your responsibilities will include- Supervising a laboratory with a small team of medical scientists in a multi-disciplinary setting (Biochemistry, Haematology/Coagulation, Stat Micro and Andrology)
- Prioritising workflow to meet client requirements
- Ensuring results are released within agreed turnaround times
- Liaising with senior staff and Pathologists regarding unusual and abnormal results
- Overseeing management of laboratory equipment to ensure it is maintained in optimal condition; scheduling routine maintenance and addressing unscheduled maintenance as required
- Reviewing and updating all laboratory documentation as required
To be considered for this position, you will need a strong blend of skills, including:
- Must hold Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) or other AIMS-accredited equivalent degree
- At least 2 years' experience in a multi-disciplinary scientific role
- Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful partnerships
- Ability to work under tight deadlines to meet day-to-day targets and manage multiple tasks within set timelines
- Results-oriented with proactive problem-solving abilities
- Proven skills in defining, prioritising, and organising competing tasks to meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity at the highest level
