The HammondCare Volunteer program offers a meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of older adults in North Turramurra.
As a Shopping Companion Volunteer, you will assist a resident in care to attend nearby shops at Macquarie Centre. Your role includes taking her to and from Macquarie Centre once a fortnight, helping her while at the shops (e.g., carrying bags, chatting, having coffee together). She uses a walker but does not need assistance walking.
Your Impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be rewarding for both you and the person you visit. Regular visits can enhance quality of life and reduce feelings of isolation among older people. Your visits will bring joy to the residents you are matched with.
HammondCare is part of The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme funded by the Australian Government, aimed at fostering connections between elderly people and community volunteers.
