A general contractor with an extensive portfolio across Canada is currently seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to oversee major commercial construction projects in Edmonton. This company is known for delivering technically challenging, high-value projects across healthcare, institutional, mixed-use, and commercial sectors, offering a supportive and results-driven work environment.
Role Overview
The Senior Superintendent will be the primary on-site leader responsible for managing the successful execution of large-scale commercial building projects, typically valued at $100 million or more. This role demands strong leadership in site operations, safety, quality, scheduling, and budget control, while directing a diverse team of site personnel, trades, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of construction operations from mobilization through project closeout
- Oversee site logistics, coordinate scheduling, and manage daily activities to ensure progress and efficiency
- Supervise, mentor, and develop site teams, promoting a strong safety culture and high standards of workmanship
- Collaborate with project management, clients, consultants, and subcontractors to address and resolve challenges promptly
- Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, quality assurance standards, and contractual requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10 years of commercial construction experience with at least 5 years in a senior supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated success managing complex commercial projects with budgets exceeding $75 million
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, site safety practices, and scheduling tools
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Capacity to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments involving multiple stakeholders
