At St Mark's, we are committed to being transformed by grace to love one another, serve the city, and share Christ. Our ministry focuses on sharing Christ in personal relationships and the promotion of the Gospel.
To do this, we have four ministry staff leading, teaching and equipping our members (about 400), and a large team of volunteers and part-time staff engaging in supporting the ministry in various ways, including in the office, maintaining the grounds, looking after IT and property, and running the Friends of St Mark's.
We're looking for someone who can pull this all together and help keep us focussed on the big picture.
Role PurposeThe Senior Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of St Mark's Anglican Church. This leadership role enables ministry staff to focus on their pastoral and spiritual responsibilities by ensuring a smooth and professional operational environment.
We're keen for you to be on site with us at Darling Point, to help bring our various ministries and activities together, but we are happy to have a conversation about the best way you might be able to serve.
Key Responsibilities- Ministry Support: Support the Senior Minister in execution of strategic priorities, organisational development and management of the ministry.
- Office Management: Oversee and support the day to day functioning of the Parish Office, including leading a team of up to four part time staff.
- Accounts and Financial Management: With the Treasurer, ensure financial management, payment, and procurement systems and processes are fit for purpose and adhered to.
- Human Resources and People: Manage staff recruitment, contracts, onboarding, and offboarding.
- Risk and Compliance: Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and Diocesan guidelines.
- Property Management: With contractors and partners, support the maintenance and development of church and residential properties.
- Parish Technology: With contractors, support the maintenance of effective IT systems and support staff in their use.
- Church Events and Communications: Support organizing church events, communications, and social media activity.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, administration, or management (desirable).
- At least 5 years of experience in operations, administration, or related leadership roles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
- Experience in managing budgets, teams, and projects.
- Competence in managing church related technologies including MailChimp, Elvanto, MS Office, Xero, payment and banking systems, and websites.
- Alignment with the mission and values of St Mark's Anglican Church.
