About the Business Unit:
The CV Prisons Learning & Capability team manages specialised projects and provides consultancy services to Corrections Victoria. As part of its consultancy role, CV L&C coordinates and provides support to prison General Managers, Workforce Development Supervisor/Advisors and workplace trainers and assessors. The team also develops, manages and coordinates the training for CV prison staff and supports the Prison Officer (PO) pre-service training programs and squad leaders responsible for the delivery of the programs.
About this Role:
The primary function of the Senior Officer, Learning and Capability role is to facilitate the specialist training sessions for trainee prison officers and prison staff. Working closely with the Consultant Learning and Capability, the position will provide support in quality assuring and coordinating training & resources for pre-service programs and in-service programs.
The role will also review and conduct evaluations of new and existing programs and make recommendations for improvements as necessary. The role supports the DJCS Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and will assist with enrolments, assessment and support in the Certificate III and IV in Correctional Practice, qualifications offered to all operational prison staff. This involves coaching assessors, providing quality assurance and conducting assessing activities.
Due to the frequency and location of PO pre-service training, this position will be required to travel to and from prison locations, requiring overnight stays where necessary.
Some of your duties will include:
- Developing, managing and delivering training sessions to Corrections Victoria (CV) prison staff and other business units as required
- Scheduling and coordinating external presenters, responsible for the facilitation of PO pre-service programs
- Conducting enrolments, assessments and promote successful completion of units of competency within the Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Custodial) qualification
- Contextualising, reviewing and updating existing training materials and develop training resources to support the delivery of effective training
- Reporting and recording prison training activity to measure the team's effectiveness
- Implementing, reviewing and evaluating key training programs, including collection and analysis of data
- Providing support and sound advice to trainees, squad leaders and Workforce Development Supervisor/Advisors to ensure Prison Officer pre-service programs run smoothly and effectively
- Providing accurate and detailed reporting to manage all PO pre-service programs

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- High-level facilitation, presentation and interactive training delivery skills
- Proven knowledge and understanding of the Prison operating environment
- Ability to organise and prioritise work to ensure the provision of quality service
- Understanding of AQTF standards for assessment
Qualifications/requirements:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) is essential
- A current Victorian driver's licence
- Certificate III and/or Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (Custodial) is required
