With 1000 staff in APAC across 23 disciplines, we provide global consultancy advice and support on a wide range of strategic and site-specific issues to a diverse and growing client base, including business, regulatory, and governmental clients.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Environmental Consultant to join our Environmental Approvals, Closure & Management team based in Brisbane CBD or Milton. The team provides project management, environmental impact assessment, post-consent environmental management services, and collaborates with other specialist teams within SLR to deliver comprehensive environmental solutions across various sectors.
We seek an articulate, motivated, and reliable professional with 5-10 years' experience in consulting, government, or industry. The role involves undertaking project work, mentoring junior staff, and developing client relationships regionally. The successful candidate will also collaborate with the national EAC&M Group and other multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the ongoing development of the team.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing advice on best practice environmental impact assessment and management principles
- Managing environmental approvals projects across multiple industries
- Assisting in developing and implementing team business plans and strategies
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and internal teams
- Working within multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects
- Delivering high-quality, clear reports
- Occasional travel for field assessments and site walkovers
Skills and experience
To succeed, you will need:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Town Planning, Engineering, or related field
- 5-10 years' experience in environmental roles within consulting, industry, or regulation
- Experience leading multidisciplinary projects
- Client management and business development skills are advantageous
- Knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation and policies
- Experience in sectors such as linear infrastructure, mining/resources, renewables, power, or agribusiness
- Excellent communication skills
- Australian citizenship or rights to work in Australia
