Job SummaryThe Environmental Health Directorate (EHD) seeks to establish a pool of suitably qualified Scientific Officers (SC1). These officers support a range of units including Food, Water, System Performance, Science and Policy, Biological and Applied Health Hazards, and Chemical Hazards. The role involves liaising with team members, contributing to environmental health programs and projects relevant to the unit, and applying multidisciplinary scientific knowledge to support community health and safety.
Eligibility and Required ExperienceApplicants must hold a relevant science degree (essential criterion). Valid working visa holders, Australian citizens, permanent residents, or those with indefinite Australian residence are eligible.
Responsibilities- Liaise with team members and work on environmental health programs and projects within your unit.
- Apply expertise in areas such as water quality, toxicology, food science, mosquito entomology, policy, emergency management, and regulation.
- Maintain high attention to detail, organisational skills, and effective communication.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Relevant science degree (essential).
- Knowledge and skills in one or more of the following areas: water quality, toxicology, food science, mosquito entomology, biological and applied health hazards, chemical hazards, policy, emergency management, regulation.
- IT skills and professional experience matching the requirements of the role.
