Overview

At Stile, our mission is simple: prepare young citizens to think scientifically about the world around them and make evidence-based decisions for their future. We create thought-provoking, meticulously researched science content that connects real-world discoveries to students' everyday lives. We're looking for passionate science teachers who want to have an even bigger impact beyond the classroom. If you love sparking curiosity in your students and you've wished you could help shape the resources teachers rely on, this role is for you.

1 in 3 schools in Australia use Stile, and with a rapid expansion in the US, we expect our use to continue to grow in the coming years. The Stile team is made up of 80 incredible teachers, scientists, artists and engineers who care about and work toward improving scientific literacy amongst our young citizens. We need your help!

Responsibilities
  • As a Science Curriculum Writer, bring your classroom experience to the creation of engaging, rigorous science lessons. Write resources you would be proud to teach yourself-lessons that align with curriculum standards and capture students' imaginations.

  • Create world-class science resources and work with a cross-disciplinary team of writers, teachers, engineers, designers and the professional development team to deliver high-quality content.

  • Align content to curricula by finding novel ways to integrate elements from different curricula to create engaging material for educators worldwide.

  • Collaborate across disciplines with videographers, designers and engineers to bring ideas to life, whether crafting videos, classroom simulations, or interactive tools to model real-world phenomena.

  • Test and teach the content in schools to ensure it hits the mark in the classroom.

  • Continue to hone your skills and knowledge as a lifelong learner, keep up with trends in education, and peer-review work with colleagues to ensure delivery of the best possible content.

A bit more about you
  • You're an experienced science teacher who loves helping students understand the world through science.

  • You're skilled at breaking down complex ideas into engaging, age-appropriate explanations.

  • You're creative, organized, and able to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • You're eager to learn and incorporate feedback, continuously seeking improvement.

  • You can communicate complex scientific ideas clearly to a younger audience.

  • You're knowledgeable about education and current trends in education technology and pedagogy.

  • Bonus points if you have experience with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) or other US curricula.

  • You're curious about new tools and open to experimenting with AI to support your creativity.

What's in it for you
  • Colleagues worth working with: join an 80-strong team of teachers, scientists, artists and engineers who hold themselves to a high standard and love what they do.

  • Meaningful work: help coach students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers, contributing to scientifically literate citizens and leaders.

  • Support: a culture that emphasizes a supportive environment, strong management and feedback frameworks, and a robust benefits program.

  • A fantastic office environment with in-person collaboration, including a central kitchen and end-of-trip facilities for cyclists.

  • Flexibility: we expect hard work, but accommodate life events with flexible scheduling when needed.

  • Professional development: a generous PD allowance and opportunities to grow alongside the team.

Hours and location

Our head office is located in the Paris end of Melbourne CBD. We maintain an in-person culture; typically, team members come to the office a few days per week and work from home on other days to focus on tasks.
