Position Title : R&D Technician (Technical Centre)
Permanent role (37hrs per week), reporting to Team Leader
Overview:
Primarily responsible for: Jig building / fixtures / tooling. Also involved in Vehicle Testing & Projects.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. _Jigs / Fixtures & Prototype Building_
- Fabrication of manufacturing jigs / fixtures & tooling for products of all types
- Fabrication of prototype samples as per design specifications
- Jig refurbishment / cleaning / repairs
- Painting of jigs & samples as required
- Project work
2. _Testing of products on vehicles (passenger cars)_
- Fitment and performance testing of original equipment & prototype designs
- Testing / approval of prototypes, in accordance with EU Legislative requirements
- Development of test systems and fabrication of prototypes for testing
- Operation of test equipment / rigs
- Collection / delivery of test vehicles
- Vehicle Maintenance (basic checks)
Education/Experience:
Required Advantageous
Metal fabrication / engineering workshop experience - required
MIG Welding skills - for metal fixtures fabrication - required
Machine shop experience (operating of lathe / milling machine) - required
Capable of working in a team, as well as independently - required
Ability to read and understand CAD drawings / specifications - required
Full driving licence- required
Knowledge / Experience of company products / manufacturing -Advantageous
Paint spraying experience -Advantageous
Ability to use a P.C. -Advantageous
General interest & knowledge in motor vehicles, and repairs -Advantageous
FLT driving experience -Advantageous
CNC bender - willing to train up to be cover
First-aider
Helpline - willing to do occasional cover
There is a potential £100 per month flexibility bonus after a three month probationary period
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.61 per hour
Expected hours: 37 per week
