Job Summary: The Reading Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject areas.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Position directly supervises students.


Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Help students improve literacy skills and standardized testing scores in reading (the posting says math lol)
  • Deliver literacy instruction using provided curriculum resources or new/updated curriculum
  • Integrate project-based learning academic activities into classroom curriculum
  • Establish a high degree of student/instructor rapport and create a positive atmosphere to promote student engagement
  • Maintain a high degree of accountability within the classroom
  • Document student attendance, performance, progress, and behavior
  • Maintain adequate classroom cleanliness
  • Effectively relate to the student population and recognize student success in the classroom
  • Adhere to all data integrity measures related to classroom instruction and testing
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Minimum: Bachelors degree. Certified to teach in the state of Iowa.


Preferred: One year in a teaching capacity with disadvantaged youth.


Knowledge: Knowledge of required subject area, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, excellent organizational skills, must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, ability to effectively relate to student population.
