The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with a construction project. They analyze construction plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine the quantities of materials required and calculate the corresponding costs. This includes estimating and controlling costs, preparing tender documents, assessing financial risks, negotiating contracts, and managing procurement and payment processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare cost estimates, bill of quantities (BOQ), and tender documentation based on drawings and specifications.
  • Draft and review contract documents.
  • Assess costs and prepare financial forecasts for projects before work begins.
  • Ensure that contract terms are met, including deadlines, quality standards, and cost agreements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Commercial Managers to manage and monitor project costs.
  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts per contractual deadlines in live projects, for client approval.
  • Manage correspondence including timely pricing and agreement of variations, effective handling of contract charges, and early settlement of disputes/claims.
  • Evaluate and negotiate change orders, extensions of time, and claims from contractors or subcontractors.
  • Evaluate vendor bids and proposals for technical specifications and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage Commercial Claims including EOT and prolongation.
  • Calculate material quantities and costs, labor costs and achievable project timeframe.
  • Handle contractual disputes and help resolve issues before they escalated.
  • At project completion, prepare final accounts ensuring all financial aspects are reconciled and documented.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil /Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8-10 years of experience as QS on Buildings, Roads & Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, MEP, Hospitals projects.
  • Consultancy and Pre-award experience is a must.
