Canada's electricity sector is undergoing significant transformation, driven by increasing electrification, renewable energy integration, and digital innovation. To address the emerging challenges, it's crucial to bring together employers, unions, educational institutions, and policymakers. Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) is collaborating with partners to develop a world-class electricity workforce that prioritizes safety, innovation, and inclusivity. A key aspect of this initiative involves attracting and retaining skilled tradespeople in Canada, which is where this role plays a vital part.
The Program Manager, Accreditation and Training will lead the development and implementation of training and accreditation programs for emerging occupations in the electricity sector. This role involves managing stakeholder relationships and overseeing the national rollout of EHRCs accreditation program, with the goal of standardizing training outcomes across Canada. The Program Manager will work closely with a small team to achieve these objectives.
The Project Manager will report directly to the Director of Programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and expand EHRCs accreditation program and competency framework for the electricity sector, focusing on training institutions
- Develop and execute new training programs, overseeing content creation and delivery
- Conduct research on emerging technologies and their impact on sector competencies
- Manage project plans, reporting on progress and finances to leads and funders
- Foster relationships with stakeholders supporting accreditation and new tech training
- Ensure high-quality deliverables, timely execution, and risk mitigation
- Lead consultant procurement and relationship management
- Collaborate with teams on marketing, engagement, and project objectives
- Support steering committees and focus groups
- Develop performance measurement strategies to evaluate program effectiveness
- Refine EHRCs accreditation sustainability model with leadership
- Identify and secure new funding sources for labour market initiatives
- Represent EHRC at various levels and with external organizations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Experience and Skills
- University degree in Social Sciences, Education, Business, or equivalent experience. A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience managing training, labour market, or social science programs
- Experience in partnerships and stakeholder engagement, specifically in accreditation programs and competency development
- Understanding of training program development, including lesson planning and curriculum design
- Familiarity with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication, report writing, facilitation, and collaboration skills are essential
- Ability to present to senior external audiences
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in English is required
- Self-starter with initiative
- Occasional travel across Canada required
- Project management experience, with PMP designation considered an asset.
- Experience in workforce development, competency development, or training is an asset
- Experience in competency analysis and development is an asset.
- Experience managing federally or provincially funded projects is an asset
