Position InformationSummer Hill Public School, established in 1883, is an inner-west city school of approximately 669 students that serves a culturally diverse and invested community. The dynamic staff demonstrate deep commitment to their highly engaged community through a breadth of rich teaching and learning experiences delivered to the highest quality and meeting the full range of student needs. They are collaborative, successful and dedicated. An Opportunity Class program for Year 5 and 6 students draws candidates from in and beyond the local community. There is a strong focus on excellence in explicit teaching, high potential and gifted education and individualised support and extension tailored to all students. While the pursuit of academic excellence is an identifiable dimension of the school, a variety of programs including leadership, band, orchestra, chess, debating, music, drama and sport, secure a breadth of exposure and opportunity for active participation in every student. The successful candidate will provide nurturing, visible and visionary leadership that builds upon existing strengths in holistic, high-quality education.
Specific Selection Criteria- Approval to teach. Demonstrated success in creating and embedding a high-quality learning culture that achieves excellence in teacher quality and student learning outcomes.
- Proven experience in building authentic student centred partnerships and connections with parents, community and external agencies to maximise teaching, learning and wellbeing outcomes for all staff and students.
- Demonstrated visionary, adaptable and collaborative leadership to drive change with purpose in alignment with the vision and values articulated in the NSW Department of Education's Plan for Public Education.
- Inspiring educational leadership that fosters the holistic development of students, underpinned by a commitment to explicit teaching, high potential and inclusive education.
- High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.
- Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
- Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
- Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
- Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis.
