Our client is a children's service based in the London Borough of Richmond. They are currently recruiting staff for their purpose built care home in Teddington (near Twickenham). The home looks after up to five children aged 10-17 years old, who have experienced significant trauma in their early lives.

The home is a 10 minute walk from Teddington train station, with regular trains running out of Waterloo and Clapham Junction.

Your new role
You will provide therapeutic day to day care of children and young people, and will promote positive attachments and relationships, working within the wider framework of professionals and families in order to understand a child's life experience.

You will actively look to improve a child's opportunities and potential, and work directly with the children, providing the best quality of personalised care that meets their needs. Through the process of building meaningful relationships you will be part of a team that provides warmth, nurture and care for very vulnerable young people. You will contribute to developing and maintaining a stimulating, nurturing home where children feel happy, cared for and safe.

You will be required to work 36 hours a week on average.

What you'll need to succeed
Candidates for this role require at least 12 month experience in a relevant role supporting children and young people, and will ideally have or be working towards a Level 3 NVQ in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

You will need to be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people, as well as being able to demonstrate the following points:

  • Personal determination, drive, energy and ambition to overcome obstacles, achieve challenging objectives, celebrate success and deliver excellent outcomes for children. Taking a strength based approach to managing situations
  • Ability to engage appropriately with young people and develop rapport
  • Have a resilience and ability to cope with the extreme pressures of working in a trauma focused, therapeutic residential childcare setting
  • Have a positive, solutions focused approach
  • Self aware to your own triggers

What you'll get in return
The client gives all workers access to the following benefits:

  • Positive and supportive working environments
  • Positive work-life balance
  • A competitive salary and access to LA pension scheme
  • A range of staff benefits and discounts managed via your own app
  • Professional reflective supervision
