Position Overview
Apply now to join our new therapeutic day school team as a PE Teacher. This role will empower students with emotional and behavioral challenges to have successful experiences in school, at home, and in the community. The PE Teacher will provide adapted physical education instruction for K12 students, creating a supportive classroom that integrates Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and mental health strategies. The PE Teacher will work with small class sizes and collaborate with classroom support staff to ensure the success of each student.

Key Responsibilities for the PE Teacher

  • Design and deliver individualized physical education instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Integrate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and mental health strategies into PE lessons.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment as a PE Teacher, encouraging students to thrive academically, socially, and physically.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to support student progress and implement behavior plans.
  • Maintain clear communication with families, school leadership, and support staff regarding student growth and achievement.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field (required).
  • Certification: Valid Illinois LBS1 certification (required).
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in a therapeutic or special education setting is preferred.
