Job Description

HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church.

Help faith bloom! One cuppa, one prayer and one heartfeltchat at a time.

We are seeking a pastoral care volunteer to spend one hour each week with a gentle and faith filled woman who would truly value spiritual companionship. Originally from Egypt and a former school teacher, she finds joy in her garden, her family, and her love for Jesus.

She is hoping for someone to talk with, read the Bible, and pray alongside her, bringing comfort and encouragement during this meaningful season of her life.

You'll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:

  • Support people to meet their spiritual needs
Responsibilities
  • Spend approximately one hour each week with a client to provide spiritual companionship.
Skills and Qualifications
  • High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
  • Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training-Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Requirements

18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday; visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
