HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church.

Do you have a kind heart and a listening ear?

We're seeking a Pastoral Care Volunteer to visit a lovely, gentle lady who lives upstairs in a shared family home. Having spent many years caring for her husband, she's now facing a quieter, more isolated chapter of life. While she's not seeking spiritual discussion right now, your presence as a calm and caring companion could offer real comfort. She'd enjoy a friendly visit, a cuppa, and maybe even some time spent colouring, a pastime she'd love to return to.

A simple visit and a kind ear could make all the difference - could you be the gentle support she's been hoping for?

You'll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs

• High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
• Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

Volunteering along side Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
