HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of the elderly clients living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church.

A cuppa, a chat, and a sprinkle of faith, could you be the blessing someone is waiting for?

• Offer gentle companionship to a gentleman living at home with his granddaughter and great-grandchildren, focusing on one-on-one time for conversation, Bible reading or prayer.
• Supplement and complement the work of HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator under their direction.
• Support people to meet their spiritual needs.

• High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
• Pastoral care training (e.g., Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education) or willingness to attend HammondCare pastoral care training (Spiritual Care Series) to prepare for volunteering.

Volunteering alongside Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience for both the person visited and the volunteer. Regular visits can help improve quality of life and reduce feelings of isolation.

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one-hour visit between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday. Visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
