- Meet and greet patients and visitors in a warm, friendly manner.
- Provide support to parents or visitors by sitting with patient whilst they are away from child.
- Escort parent/carer from theatre when the child is taken into care of theatre staff.
- Escort parent/carer to recovery if they are called back but child is not ready to return to ward at that time.
- Occupy child by playing games, talking to them, reading books or whatever activity the child is happy with.
- Assist with distraction during tests or ward procedures.
- Assist parents by entertaining siblings whilst they are occupied with supporting the patient.
- Assist PCA with putting toys and games away and keeping them in good order.
- Assist ward staff with any other tasks which may be required.
- Assist with supporting patients or visitors with giving feedback on their hospital experience either via Care Opinion on I-pad or in person to customer liaison staff.
Direct contact with patients and visitors who need your assistance at difficult times in their life.

About you:- Well presented with a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
- Ability to approach patients and visitors in a confident and caring way.
- Be sensitive and tactful at all times.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit time to volunteer on a regular basis.
- Understanding of personal and professional boundaries.
- Willing to be flexible and work in a team environment.
- Volunteers must maintain client/patient confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrate effective hand-hygiene practice throughout the hospital.
- Demonstrate WA Country Health values at all times - Community, Compassion, Quality, Integrity, Equity and Curiosity.
- Respect diversity and differing opinions.
Regular - more than 6 months
TrainingOn the job direction and supervision, annual mandatory essential skills training
Time requiredMinimum of 3 hours per week, days and times as suits ward and volunteer.
ReimbursementA uniform shirt, swipe card and ID lanyard will be provided
Requirements- Driver's Licence (C)
- National Police Certificate
- Working with Children Check
No experience required.National Police Certificate and WWC payable by Agency.
