THE ROLE IN ACTION
Identifying and troubleshooting malfunctions in engines and related mechanical components - such as detecting and diagnosing the faults in engines and its parts
Providing mentorship or guidance to apprentices and junior staff, sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts replacements, and maintenance work carried out.
Disassembling and removing engine units, gearboxes, steering systems, and other assemblies to inspect and assess parts for wear or damage.
Communicating effectively with customers to explain repair needs, provide cost estimates, and offer advice on vehicle care and maintenance.
Keeping up-to-date with new automotive technologies, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques through continuous learning.
Repairing or replacing faulty and worn-out components, then rebuilding mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturer service manuals and specifications.
Conducting test drives to verify that repairs and adjustments have restored vehicles to manufacturer specifications.
Collaborating with other mechanics and apprentices to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality outcomes.
Carrying out routine maintenance tasks - including oil and filter changes, lubrication, and engine tuning - to improve vehicle performance and ensure compliance with emission and environmental standards.
Reassembling engines and components following repairs or replacements to restore proper function.
Testing, calibrating, and fine-tuning mechanical systems after repairs to confirm optimal performance and reliability.
Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures, maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment.
Inspecting vehicles to determine roadworthiness and, where authorised, issuing compliance certificates or providing a detailed report of required repairs to meet legal standard
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking a skilled and experienced automotive technician or mechanic who can accurately diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues. Applicants with expertise in gas conversations and auto gas system maintenance will be highly regarded. Applicant should hold relevant trade qualifications and a valid driver's license and stay updated with the latest automotive technologies are also important.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
1. Diploma or Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (or equivalent qualification).
2. Proven min 1 year experience as a Motor Mechanic or similar role within the automotive industry.
3. Sound knowledge of vehicle systems, engines, transmissions, steering, brakes, and electrical components.
4. Ability to diagnose, repairs, and maintain a wide range of vehicles using both traditional and computerised diagnostic tools.
5. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
6. Excellent time management and teamwork skills.
7. A valid driver's licence (mandatory).
