About the RoleWe are looking for a junior Legal Counsel ( to 3 years PQE) to join our award-winning Legal, Risk & Compliance team. Our busy team members are trusted advisors who partner closely with our businesses across ANZ, UK, Asia and US, using passion, expertise and commercial judgment to drive optimal outcomes.
Based in our Sydney CBD office (hybrid), you will focus on contracting and commercial advisory work to support our events, as well as ticketing services. In addition, you may support in company secretarial, risk and compliance matters.
What does a day in the life look like?No day is ever the same and that's the way we like it! Reporting to the Group General Counsel & Company Secretary, your responsibilities will include:
- Contracting & Commercial Support: Draft and advise on a high volume of contracts across entertainment live events including sanctioning bodies, government, venues, talent, sponsors, merchandisers, licensors, ticketing agents and other suppliers.
- Event Legal Advisory & Compliance: Advise on event planning, marketing and promotional activities including consumer, employment, IP, and privacy laws.
- Customer claims, Regulatory & Risk Management: Assist with customer claims, manage and elevate legal & compliance risks, and liaise with consumer regulatory bodies to resolve disputes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Production, Operations, Customer Solutions, Marketing, Finance, People and external stakeholders to ensure smooth event delivery.
- Admitted as a legal practitioner in NSW (or other Australian State).
- Up to 3 years' PQE within a corporate/commercial department of a large/boutique law firm and/or similar in house experience, preferably within a live entertainment business.
- You have excellent commercial skills and feel confident in negotiating and advising on commercial contracts.
- Excellent commercial acumen and communication skills.
- Highly efficient, organised and comfortable prioritising workload and operating in a fast paced corporate environment.
- Naturally curious with a strong desire to learn and develop.
- Continuous improvement mindset always looking for innovative ways to work and resolve problems.
- Confidence liaising directly with a wide range of stakeholders.
