The UNSW Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC) is a multi-disciplinary research centre comprising the largest university research facilities of its kind in Australia. CCRC houses research expertise in the key areas of Earth's climate: atmospheric, oceanic and terrestrial processes. We apply basic scientific principles to pressing questions on climate dynamics, global climate change, and extremes of weather and climate.

About the role
  • $101K-$119K plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
  • 5 year fixed term with tenure track opportunity
  • Flexibility to choose full time or part time hours to suit your work/life balance

We are seeking a suitably qualified physical oceanographer or climate scientist for a blended teaching and research role with a focus on: innovative teaching and learning practice; course development; outreach and engagement; science communication. These aspects of the role will be underpinned and informed by an active research profile in collaboration with colleagues within the CCRC, School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Science and through the development of other cross-disciplinary links at UNSW and beyond.

This is a five year appointment with view to conversion to a continuing role subject to performance.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a passion for teaching and scientific outreach & engagement, informed by an active research profile
  • A strong track record (relative to opportunity) in university teaching, research and service
  • Have doctoral qualifications in a field such as physical oceanography or atmospheric science
